VALLADOLID , capital of the autonomous community of Castile and Leon, is a modern city in full swing. With a population of half a million inhabitants , it is an important cultural, industrial , administrative and commercial hub.

With a rich architectural heritage , Valladolid is one of the Spanish capital of greater historical importance . Philip II , son of Emperor Carlos I, granted the title of city , making it the political and administrative capital of the Kingdom. Headquarters courts and councils , Valladolid is the birthplace of kings like Henry IV , born in 1425, and Felipe II ( 1527 ) . It also bears witness to royal weddings : In 1469 marry the Catholic Monarchs in the Palace of the Nursery , brewing unit of the Spanish kingdoms.

The germ of the current University erupted in the thirteenth century. Throughout its eventful history , the city has hosted the First Court of Chancery and one of the tribunals of the Inquisition. After the coronation of Emperor Charles I, Valladolid concentrated movement of the Communards of Castile, until its defeat in Villalar , in 1521.

In 1559 the Court moved to Madrid although again it would be exalted to the capital of Spain from 1601-1606.
